New Plug in available!
Finally a different kind of distortion box, capable of producing some of the coldest, digital sounds at the flip of a dial. Say hello to "Absolute Zero".
Currently available as an Apple "Audio Unit" plug in. I've currently tested with GarageBand and Digital Performer 5.12 ...I've had some small problems automating with Digital Performer 5.13. I'm looking forward to version 6!How does it work?
Instead of emulating various tubes and such, Absolute Zero takes the incoming signal, and modulates the original to a squarewave signal that renders a value of 1 for all positive levels in the original, and a -1 for all negative levels. The result is a form of distortion that is more reminiscent of FM modulation that any type of distortion box. This version also includes a noise gate. I found that when I developed "The Rack" (which I have recently discontinued), the noise gate was a necessary addition. However, I've also found that you can use the gate itself (if tweaked properly) to create your own unique kind of distortion, as I've allowed the attack and release to open and close as tightly as possible.
Other titles in the works
Currently, I'm working on "Retrophonica" ... the simplest 4 band vocoder ever.

No fancy Bells and Whistles, just three dials and less load on your processor.
Also
Slowly but surely, I'm going to be revamping my "Spine Cutter" plug in that removes the center channel from a stereo signal. This, in many cases, helps reduce vocals in a full mix track, thereby turning full, stereo mixes of songs into "karaoke" style mixes.
